I thought this Bacon-Explosion was posted previously but I couldn't find it.

Check it out - http://blog.bbqaddicts.com/recipes/bacon-explosion/ I never got around to making this but I've been tempted. Lisa

Who among us has cured and then smoked their own bacon? How hard is this process to do? Are the end results worth the effort?

I have.

Yes. The flavor will be quite a bit stronger than the store bought stuff you are used to, and you can adjust it to your own preference. You may like it cured with maple sugar, or extra smokey.

I followed this recipe and was very happy with the results: https://barbecuebible.com/recipe/made-scratch-bacon/

I did one batch with just brown sugar, and another with a 50/50 blend of brown sugar and Maple syrup. I prefer the 50/50 blend, but the difference was not as big as I expected.

The reason to love hunting season in an old camp in the woods of Maine.....bacon......
On a serious note, I noticed back in the early comments that Lisa(lowfog01) had posted. Has anyone heard from her for many years or did she retire and walk away from coal? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think Cokehead spoke with her not long ago. She's been busy I believe.

A military buddy of made these for the barbecue he is having at his place tomorrow evening. He requested that everyone wear a face mask and if they didn't have one he would provide them with one. He asked for an RSVP by July 1st. Five people stated they didn't have masks. 😄
