Who among us has cured and then smoked their own bacon? How hard is this process to do? Are the end results worth the effort?

Thanks to a spammer replying to this post it got brought back to the top and I realized I missed it the first time around.
I followed this recipe and was very happy with the results: https://barbecuebible.com/recipe/made-scratch-bacon/

I have.
Yes. The flavor will be quite a bit stronger than the store bought stuff you are used to, and you can adjust it to your own preference. You may like it cured with maple sugar, or extra smokey. How hard is this process to do? Are the end results worth the effort?

I did one batch with just brown sugar, and another with a 50/50 blend of brown sugar and Maple syrup. I prefer the 50/50 blend, but the difference was not as big as I expected.

The reason to love hunting season in an old camp in the woods of Maine.....bacon......
On a serious note, I noticed back in the early comments that Lisa(lowfog01) had posted. Has anyone heard from her for many years or did she retire and walk away from coal? Inquiring minds want to know.

A military buddy of made these for the barbecue he is having at his place tomorrow evening. He requested that everyone wear a face mask and if they didn't have one he would provide them with one. He asked for an RSVP by July 1st. Five people stated they didn't have masks.
