I been sipping on Dewar's Scotch & ice for the longest time, dropped it for Jaminson's Irish Whiskey & ice but for the last year I been staying home with Kentucky Bourbon. Eagle Rare is very good & so is Makers Mark. It seems I do not have a favorite but I do prefer the 90 proof over the 80proof for sipping straight neat. Of course, JD is always standing proud in the corner too.

JD was my one and only for a long time but I ended up doing way too many crazy things so I switched to rum and enjoy myself a lot more!

J.D. is a favorite and so is Makers Mark. I too like all varieties of drinks from Rum, Vodka, Tequila, Scotch, Brandy. At this time I really like Sangria, not a bad mix of things. Ahh heck with it, just let me have a case of everything and I'll be happy, lol.

My general favorite is Jameson Irish whiskey, although I have an Old Bushmills Irish whiskey when I can afford it.
Once in a while I'll have a bourbon. No sweet drinks for me... It's the sugar that give you the hangover.
I like my whiskey mixed half and half: half whiskey and half air. Never mix the good stuff.

The only whiskey I drink is Tullamore Dew, I'm going to Dublin next month so I think I will be having some Jamison. A decent backup would be Powers, but like I said Tullamore is best.

There is more good quality whiskey on the market now than in any other time in history.
I live in the heart of it as far as Bourbon is concerned, and am well educated in its making.
A lot af good small batch ditillers out there that I have not tried yet.
Some of the better ones are
1.Woodford Reserve, this is the ONLY Bourbon triple run, that is run through the still 3 times
and properly aged, at least 8 years.
2. Blanton's, Made in Frankfort aged 10 years, very good a little expensive.
3. AAA, or Ancient Ancient Age, absolutely the best buy in Bourbon, 10 years old, same whiskey as Blantons, just bottled as AAA. DO NOT confuse this with regular Ancient Age ( Bottled Gasoline). can't say enough about this whiskey!
4.Jack Daniels Single Barrel, very good, big improvement over their regular varnish remover.
Some to avoid and why.....
1. Makers Mark, they have a good recipe but are in a hurry to get their money out of the bond, and only age this whiskey 3 years, what a shame.
2. Jim Beam, the old man would roll over in his grave if he knew what they were turning out these days, this stuff comes in contact with too much metal after being removed from the barrel, YUCK!....enough said.
3. Ancient Age 86 or 90, rough run aged in months. Instant head ache!
4. Bartons, the bootleggers choice for a reason. CHEAP swill, alcoholics don't touch this stuff.
One more thing, if you are going to mix Boubon with anything other than water or ice, use the cheap stuff and leave the good stuff for those that appreciate the difference.
Cheers
BK

I like Jameson. I prefer Canadian whiskey/bourbons. I wont drink it anymore cause many of the times I drank it. One or several of the following had occured that night (which I didnt remember).
1. Get the *censored* kicked out of me.
2. Kick the *censored* out of someone.
3. Wake up behind bars.
4. Wake up with pocket full of citations from police (disorderly conduct mostly) from the fight.
5. Wake up with a smashed up car.
6. Wake up next to a 350lb heffer that I supposedly, well you know.
I can drink beer, rum, and vodka. Tequila and whiskey are poisonous for me. One morning I woke up with a chick so fat I don't know how we even did it.

Kentucky Straight Bourbon
William Larue Weller Barrel Proof is very nice too.
Drambuie in mixed drinks.
Slightly off topic but in the vein of a sippin' whiskey...
Don Julio Anejo Tequila.
I bring it to parties and it surprises people just how smooth it is straight!
Certain customers of mine know about the 'special tools' I keep in the locked toolbox.
Don Julio Anejo and Woodford Reserve are two of them!
A strong second to Woodford Reserve!1.Woodford Reserve, this is the ONLY Bourbon triple run, that is run through the still 3 times

BK,
Last Sept. I spent a couple nights in Louisville. We went to Fourth Street Live.
Spent waaaaaayyyyyyy tooooooo much time there. I think I sampled a few too many.
We started off sampling beers and appetizers but since we were in Bourbon country we felt that we just had to try some of the local favorites. As I recall, most were really good tasting but by the next morning, after a taxi ride for the 3 blocks back to the hotel........
Oh well, at least I did experience it once.
