. 1 Dozen boxes are $2 and change.

I raised them yrs ago but gave up as they are too damn cute to kill .
They are cute. Just eat them whole and alive. Small ones. No choking.

Ever think about rabbits place in the food chain? There is a reason they reproduce quickly and grow fast, taste good even. They are the food for many animals and are here for that reason. So dont feel bad killing one even if they are cute. Its their place on earth.

Im hungry now :D

Hell...I always thought their place on earth was to entertain a pack of good beagles & an old man with a shotgun......Oh well.

Always wanted to try that. I'd be scared I'd hit a dog though.

Ya know...back in the day...I'd feel a lot safer going hunting with Cheney; than I ever would going for a ride with Ted Kennedy.

Does anyone know how long to "age" the meat?

For me it would be how long it took me to carry it to the fry pan :P

I have heard of people doing that with big game but never with small game so I might learn something today.

The last time I cooked one, it was tough. It was probably 15 years ago, so I don't remember if it was old, young, any details. So I looked it up up wondering if you're supposed to. Anywhere from 1 to 3 days depending where you find the info. UNLESS it goes straight from cage to oven, then supposedly that's ok. A lot of suggestions of soaking in salt water to remove blood and help retain moisture.

I haven't had a rabbit meal in a very long time. Always liked it. We always shuck gutted them as soon as we shot them. Beware the ones that came out of a poison ivy patch. The local farmers markets here used to always have rabbits at the butcher stands. I haven't seen that it a long time. A fellow I worked with about 40 years ago used to raise them. They ate a few and sold the rest to butcher shops.

There's always the classic Hasenpfeffer dish. Here's one recipe that likely a lot more involved than most would bother with. Great deep dish iron skillet stuff.
