I always bought USA New Balance but the last pair is showing sole separation an the laces are always coming undone. I bought a pair of cheap Walmart walkers for under $20 a couple of years ago to take walks when on the road and they are comfortable and stay tied, the only problem is the sole wears fast and that is why they will eventually be tossed, the soles wore out but for under 20 bucks they are a good value.

I walk 2 miles a day in Muck shoes. Like going barefoot. Easy on and off.

I made a post a while ago about the SAS shoes I got a deal on. The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, they are more sneaker like but not quite sneakers. They aren't cheap if you pay full price, the ones I got were $49 on sale, retail is $189.
Besides being a great shoe one of the reasons for the high price is they made in the USA.

The ones on sale were the white ones, it's ugly shoe to me but I only wear them around the house. They have some really nice looking shoes but you're not going to find them for $49 either.
They were not on the rack, they had them in the back. By the condition of the box it was old stock. You can try giving Penn-Lee footwear a call and see if they still have them at that price.

is it the laces, the shoe itself stretching out or the padding of the shoe going thin? laces is an easy fix, the other two aren't.
My last pair of NB got loose in the heel area and I didn't feel like dropping $125 for another pair so I switched to Asics. I do about 5-7 miles a week in mine and they've held up great over the past 18-24 months. I'll get a new pair this year since the liner is starting to tear. I switched the laces to the stretchy no lace-u'ms and stuff stuff the feet in there, no shoe horn for this pair. I think they've held up great otherwise. ~$70 at DSW.
I think this is the new model. It's got the same sole, which is better for uneven surfaces than a traditional runner's show with a flat sole.

Keene mid height Targheel II they are expensive, sometimes their tread glue separates ( i use expoxy to reseal them) they have a good arch support and when tightened support your ankle. I have a custom orthotic due to distorted ankle from bad knee(repaired)/ Im 68 and I have a year on the current pair without any tread separation yet. they have a wide toe box that is ridged and doesn't get tight as you walk down hill

Ive used superglue with some success with soles coming apart but it has to be redone every month or two. Still its cheaper than buying shoes all the time. The glued spots have to be really clean before doing it.

Just bought a pair of Brooks Glycerin 18 ($150 retail on sale for $93) to replace Glycerin 7's (Bet I have over 10,000 miles on the 7's). Also bought a pair of ASICS ($139) on AMZ for $89. Previous pair of ASICS had heel separation and super glue didn't hold but a good smear of two part epoxy did. Currently having a faceoff of the Brooks vs ASICS. Loser goes back - maybe!

I'm confounded by all these fancy modern shoes. Seriously.
I wear steel toe 6" work boots every day, all year long. Well I have a pair of Chuck Taylors I wear sometimes in the summer.
My Thorogoods are starting to wear out, gonna have to start saving for another pair. https://www.thorogoodusa.com

As a nurse, I always wore Clark Walkers. If u need a more outdoorsey shoe, I would go with a short boot-type walker.
And of course if u have neuropathy or diabetes, your insurance will fit u with free yearly shoes, just saying.
