Countryside, I have neuropathy and a ankle surgery that didn’t go well, do you know what the process is for having insurance cover shoes. I’d like to check into it. Thanks

My everyday shoe is Red Wing boot but it's lightweight version with the molded sole. I have very narrow feet and it's one brand you can get widths. When I pull them on there is a very audible thunk!. It's like putting sneakers on. They have the same model with steel toe which I'm considering for next time as I'm occasionally around pallets these days. The sole lasts a very long time, I get about 3 or 4 years. They can't be resoled since they are molded, at least locally. If I could find somewhere I'd be willing to pay upwards of $100 at least once to get them done.

They are about $250 retail but it will be hard to find a boot as comfortable as these. They are definitely worth the price because they are like the energizer bunny as far as wear time goes. Note these are not fully Made in the USA. Anything from Red Wing with molded sole is not fully Made in the USA.
Red Wing Heritage line - Fully Made in the USA and can be resoled. Red Wing offers service if you don't have local shoemaker.
Other Red Wing Boots - Made in the USA with some foreign materials/components. Not sure of the extent. They all have molded soles so they are easy to identify.
Irish Setter by Red Wing - Foreign made boot.

I used to have normal width feet. Now I have to get "wide" instead of "D". I couldn't figure out why new shoes hurt and felt tight until I had my feet measured. I suppose as I get older my feet are flattening out.

I've switched to Sketchers for a while now & am having good luck with them, can usually find them on sale at a local place that carries most brands so I tried many out. I'm diabetic & never heard of Health Insurance helping out on shoes. I'm service connected (agent orange) so I do get Jobst socks for free & see their foot doc every 6 months. Likewise as you get older 74 for me the foot size changes.

Shoe Goo is my go to for repairing most shoe issues. It's also good for lot's of other stuff.
I'm headed to a foot Doctor in a few weeks.... arthritis.... I'm sure special foot wear is in the future for me.

I'll second the Redwing promotion. I have weirdly sensitive feet, I've tried skechers, nike, addidas and all of these to varying degree bother my feet after so long on concrete. Most shoes I try on bother my arch right away. Redwing has a sneaker line that's supposedly the cats meow...I'm too scared to buy sneakers online and expect them to feel right, so trying them on live is a big help.

Gotta have at least three pairs of them moccs - smaller size for no socks during morning coffee, a pair for summer weight socks, and bigger ones for winter weight socks. And maybe a black pair for formal occations.
