First and foremost, this is NOT insurance...they can and do make their own rules. Don't make any big claims or have anything pre-existing...
I explored this as a possibility for coverage but went elsewhere. In a word, "cherry_picking"...welcome low risk, while shunning higher risk...but happy to take anybodies money...

It Galled me to go to that rag's website, but what the Hell,Ya' gotta get the story from different angles, just to stay apprised of how different groups of People think. This Topic Thread oughta really roar! To me,You always need to fully get the picture of what You're signing up for,and how it's going to affect Your Family, one way or the other! Health Care is a Complete Bitch! It shouldn't have to be,but it simply is! The concept of Human Cattle isn't lost on me. We have a problem as both Major Political Party's have Royally blown it out the Whazoo! No one wants this front and center. No one wants to stare it in the eye. Money Talks,B.S. walks... How do We pay for it? How do We avoid the Dumb Downs and Flat Line of Socialized Medicine? How do We stop Bankrupting Family's one at a time? This is NOT insurance. They are required to make this clear to any joining members.
Members could never enlist help on denied claims through the normal state insurance watch-dog venues.
They do have arbitrattion board instead for members challenging any denied claims.

I could only read a little of the link before my ad blocker kicked in but enough to see it is not any good. Reminded me of some life insurance policies Ive seen that dont mature until you are in your 90's.
No insurance company can provide unlimited care with no cap.
They have risk management staff to prevent a collapse of the
system. No company has the ability to cover unlimited risk.
Kinda like where you auto policy will not pay to fix a $10,000 car when
it has $17,000 of damage. They have to limit the lose on the vehicle.

Couldn't open the article either, but from the looks of it it's what referred to as a 'health share plan' or something like that. The basic gist of it, is that it capitalizes on the fact that most providers will provide a cheaper rate / discount for customers paying straight up cash. These health share plans usually require the billed person to pay the cost after haggling or asking for discounts (due to ridiculous mark ups on everything!!!), then the individual is re-imbursed by other members. (they pay this by their premium), of course all after exceeding the deductible. This is actually what my family is on, our deductible is $400. If it exceeds that, we are reimbursed. The disadvantage is that often times I have to front the money to the hospital/doctor at the time of billing, this is where anyone living paycheck to paycheck won't be able to take advantage of this system. HOWEVER this is the whole reason we can get a discount, the providers lick their chops at the chance of getting paid without the insurance company to banter with. For now this works a bit, but time is fading. A few years ago I had to pay $60 to see a specialist. Once I went onto the health share, it was $200 since I was cash pay (actual billed value from the doctor themself), but since I was 'uninsured/self pay' I got a 67% discount...right back around $60 again!
It has its benefits, if you find providers (usually local) that are willing to work with you, it works very well. What I've found out is that most billing departments actually have no clue how much things actually cost, they just send you the same fat bill they'd send the insurance company. So it takes some communication.
Case in point my wife had our son 2 years ago, hospital bill $28,000. What a joke. We were able to get discounts till about $21,000 I think, but still...had to be paid.
Insurance companies and providers are overcharging like crazy, partly because of lawsuits and some obama era instituted rules. Healthcare has become expensive and you either pay for it in your deductible or your premium...it seems to me...
