With the latest measles outbreak I’m curious where people stand on vaccinations? I have family with young children who refuse to get their kids vaccinated. They are too young for school but I told them public schools require vaccinations for enrollment. Their answer is to home school. That’s only part of the problem. You have to consider the medical costs associated with treating ill individuals that could other wise be saved from simple vaccinations. Personally, I’m for vaccinations. They’re proven to work! I feel that these viruses from days gone by are emerging now due to the lack of vaccinations.

Not vaccinated, don't plan on it ever.

The key to not getting vaccinated is to make sure you live in a population that IS vaccinated.
Personally I think a lot of people choosing to go this path are taking advantage of others, and they might feel differently if they had lived in a different area/era and witnessed the alternative.

A big plus 3. Especially for the major diseases like measles.
There are a lot of things that are gonna kill us quicker than that little bit of chemical they inject in us. we breathe worse things every time we go to a town.

And a plus four. I'm old enough (just) to remember polio, and not being allowed to go to the public swimming pool summers, and the mother of a friend who got it. My mother was a nurse, and you can bet we were right there in line when the vaccines were available.
Even the "simple" childhood diseases are not always simple. I have a close relative who was never vaccinated for chicken pox, because there WAS no vaccine at the time. She got chicken pox at age 22, it took an aberrant course and caused brain damage to her swallowing, and she has been able to eat only mush for the last 50 years. Next time you see one of those anti-vaxers eating a hamburger, bat it on the floor and tell them they never again can eat one.

Measles kills 2 in 10,000, the vaccine kills more, a lot more.

A "foreign population" (from medically and often geographically different areas than you) is the biggest risk of serious disease.
It usually is NOT the local population, but the one who brings in diseases from other areas for which the current population is not prepared.
Combine that with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION (no health screening or treatments and abundant proliferation) that circumvent existing health protective measures, and we are barely a heart beat away from a Typhoid-Mike situation.
Vaccinations or not are a small part of the risk. The irresponsible exposures are far more dangerous than your local anti-vaxxer.

The 98% solution to avoiding disease is AVOIDING exposure to the disease.

It is, but it is one of those things that people never agree on - which is fine, since we are all capable of having a rational discussion...right?
Simon brings up a good point of the death rate of a certain disease vs. the death rate of the vaccine. The tough part is finding a data source that you believe. The CDC puts out a lot of information, but I think it would be wise to see how that compares to WHO info, and independent peer reviewed sources.
Here is a recent CDC data sheet on measles:

Air bags saved a lot of lives, but they killed many.. many kids too. Everything has a risk, latest data is proving there is a danger to vaccines, autism is at the top of the list..
They tell us fluoride is good for us and our teeth, yet it is a poison, ever read the poison label on your toothpaste.
If one kid out of a hundred gets autism or dies is that acceptable, is one out of a thousand more acceptable, where do we draw the line and who decides? big pharma.

The more you study epidemiology the less you know. CDC do the best they can but this data is flawed and can only be used as a guideline. Rockland County NY is a hot spot for measles and if you study what they are doing you can safely assume everything is wrong. Things never change down there. By chasing everything you achieve nothing. Start by reading about vaccinosis. Start here ..
