For those of you who've had shingles, how old were you?

For those of you who've had the Shingrex shot, how much was it?

My understanding of it was that it's a viral mutation that stays with You after getting over the Chicken Pox. At 58 I've been accidentally very fortunate to not have it go live and hit me! This is a Good Heads Up Thread. As Coalen said,it's a stinker to find available. I Thank You for taking the time to wake the Rest of Us Up! My Condolences for what You are going through!

I was about HB's age when it came out. Other stuff was going on too so it was a double whammy. I knew what it was and started treatment within 48 hours. Treatment worked!

Getting shingles has a side effect for some known as Postherpetic neuralgia. For some people, shingles pain continues long after the blisters have cleared. This condition is known as postherpetic neuralgia, and it occurs when damaged nerve fibers send confused and exaggerated messages of pain from your skin to your brain. It can be permanent so prevention via vaccine is the best option.

My treatment consisted of oral doses of an anti-viral and Lyrica. Timing is important and it worked for me, not postherpetic neuralgia. Plenty of scars though.

the vaccine is a two step vaccine one shot then another within two months i think . Cost is Around $240.00 per shot. You must get 2 to get the 90 effective rating. While i had shingles once you I can get it again but the chances are reduced. I know a person who got shingles three times so the vaccine is a good thing .

A man I knew (deceased now) had the shingles four times. Three of them was after vaccinations to prevent it.

Know of a young girl who had been vaccinated for the measles as a young kid. Later in elementary school she got the measles. Caused a bunch of unvaccinated kids to miss a month of school. Next day she was revaccinated and sent back to school that very same day while the rest of the kids in the county remained out of school for the rest of the month...none of which came down with anything...and having already been going to school even before the girl got sick.

Keep drinking the kool-aid folks. I’ve had several doctors tell me vaccinations for some things are good and for many things unnecessary. When doctors says that to me...it says follow the money.
