After I had my logging accident in March, the CAT Scan from my concussion revealed I had other issues going on too. There was damage to my Pituitary Gland, but also a growth on my Thyroid. The Dr's did not think it was a big deal so I did not think it was a big deal, but finally further testing revealed I got (6) big tumors which are affecting my swallowing and voice.

No one wants to hear their Doctor say cancer, but while this is a rather oxy-moron; I guess if a person has to get cancer, Thyroid Cancer is not that bad. It has a very low death rate since they can just slit my throat and take out my Thyroid and Lymph Nodes. No big deal by the sounds...

As for the reason...as close as we can tell it came from 25 years of welding where my welds were tested by x-ray. No real precautions taken but to stand back while they took their pictures. Years of that radiation exposure just accumulated I think.

It kind of sucks, but Katie took it well which is good. Both of us kind of being in a fog, but the realization coming this morning after a long night. I am a believer and in having read the bible know where I am going and that we win, but its scary to think of so many others who did not win the battle, and that I got 4 young daughters.

Several people in my family got thyroid cancer, and all are doing well after surgery. None of them were welders, one was a school teacher. You never know.

The tranquility your faith affords can heal. Avoid stress as much as possible, as coalfan stated, and do your best to stay happy and optimistic. Lots of vitamin C as well which will promote healing if an operation is required. That spiritual health you so often show is your best friend.

Sorry to hear NS. I can say the exact same thing Rob R stated above. I also have a family member that had tongue cancer and never smoked or drank. A number of us are old enough to have grown up during above ground nuclear testing which is another long term exposure vector. Get well quickly.

Sorry to hear that, NS.

Two in my family have gone through thyroid surgery and while it's scary to hear that news, yes the success rate is very good. Prayers sent that yours goes as well.

Well..... Here It Goes,From Me.... !

As James Cagney said in the Movie "Mr. Roberts"... : "Mistah,You've Really Gone And Done It This Time ! "

How has this All Befallen You ? Maybe it's the fact that You've been keenly busy and focused on Living A Life ! Maybe the more We do,the more We Hit It,then the Law Of Averages stops by and visits Us. You've been smashing it out for a long time. You haven't been real busy hiding in a Cave,or standing and fretting in front of a mirror. You've just been busy getting it done ! This moment, this diagnosis would appear to require the same Technology from You.

Let's Review,Shall We ?

1.) You Trusted Us with this news-Thank You from the bottom of Our Coal Burning Hearts !
2.) You smashed it right out of the Park when You spoke of Your Family ! You were last, they kept coming in First ! Thanx Again,Mistah !
3.) It sounds like You And The Old Man Upstairs got this Dilemma Right With Each Other ! Thanx for the lessons in Humility,Faith, and The Understanding of
just were We Size Up in the Scheme Of Things !
4.) There's nuthin' More Romantic than feeling like You're Back's Up Against 'Da Wall, and 'Da Wolf's gnawing through 'Da Door ! You've Masterfully eliminated
The Blackmail and Hostage-Taking Characteristics of this Situation ! Congrats' and Hats Off,My Friend !

In Closing...Oh,To Hell With Closing -Let's Just Keep This Line Open,Shall We ?!?!

Stay Tactical And Practical,Along With Loving,My Friend !! Keep The Updates Coming, and Remember,Even An Old Warper Like Me Cares !
