Hmmm, BPA, vaccines or my favorite ultra sound. It is a tragedy that needs to be solved.

I started saying lack of lead causes autism because the rise of autism seems to correlate nicely with the war on lead and the removal of lead from everything we touch. Now I just say that to be funny but what if it were found to be true sometime down the road? Where’s my Nobel Prize?

Need to conduct actual studies. Have group A ingest chemical A ... group B nothing .. etc.

Simple test of hypothesis ...

Ah Dave, the classical longitudinal study that was started in Framingham MA. So you of course would be happy to enroll in the BPA consuming part of the protocol ... riiight. Sorry buddy, not that simple in fact for many reasons it's even close to being that simple.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Causes_of_autism
Genetic factors may be the most significant cause for autism spectrum disorders. Early studies of twins had estimated heritability to be over 90%, meaning that genetics explains over 90% of whether a child will develop autism.[15]

JJ, I read that study some time ago ... no statistical power and a lot of wishful thinking. I think we are all left scratching our heads. If there was an autism gene it would have been discovered.

Autism (and its entire spectrum of disorders) is actually pretty common—1 in 166 people have it. If you have one child with autism, the risk for the next child is only 2-6%. If autism were due to a single gene, we might expect numbers like 25% or 50%.

I have a son diagnosed with Aspergers, very intelligent and high functioning, there are no "answers" per se, he fits into the world in his own way and he is happy with that. ;)

Too old I would think. Need youngsters.

How about yours? Maybe BPA isn't an issue...then you would have allowed science to search for the true cause.
