Fred I'm a bit leery of doctors these days considering the amount of money I have paid to them with no results not to mention the cost of them for those worthless results . <snip>.
I let doctors know from the get-go .. they no fixie, they no get paid. Like a car mechanic....Some think I'm joking.

I had shooting pains in my leg .. took 10 doctors (1/2 were on the right path but just did not get it right) and the last one gave me a few pills to "reset" the nervous system (so he said--but others tried the same thing just with different meds, and it fixed it so I assume he was correct)....4 months of non-stop throbbing/shooting nerve pain ~ like every 10 second~zing (no reason really, just something goofy that I experienced). 9 doctors, only one got paid any of my $$$ out of my pocket.

Doctors have a license to practice medicine, and you pay them to practice on you. Other than the ordinary commonplace things it can get pretty complex. Like any other trade probably only ten percent are really top notch.

Well I picked up new work boots in hopes that they will treat my feet better . The pair I have been wearing the last 3 years are thorogood composit toe and shank boots. Made in the USA . They have a wedge soul so no arch on the soul. I'm thinking that the lack of seperating between the heal and the front of the foot is causing extra pressure on the arch of my foot so I got a tradition souled boot .
I love thorogood boots but I didn't want to wait for them to come in the mail so I bought Carolina boots also made in the USA . So we will see how it goes next week.

Don't laugh. Find a good yoga school, talk to them and let them know your issues. Sign up and do it for a month. You will want to continue. It is great for so many areas. You will just keep spending money on drs and orthodics if you continue that route. It has helped my Sciatica and it is a terrific pairing to the martial arts.

Ok I went and saw the foot and ankle doctor today because my right ankle is very painful at the moment and I can't walk on it very easily .

Driving an hour from work to see the doctor and explaining everything and the fact that I have tried insouls from a doctor and good feet the resulting diagnosis was that I need to buy $450 insouls custom made to my feet like I had the first go around... Naturally I said NO that is NOT the answer !

I might be going to see another doctor in the morning about my ankle . I demanded x-rays of my ankles and feet because you can't just pay for x-rays without seeing a doctor anywhere in the area so at least I got a little of my money's worth. which was $115 to see the doctor and get my x-rays on CD.

I found a bone spur on my big tow which the doctor asked if it was hurting and I said no my big toe in not hurting ...

I did however fine that taping is a good thing , so I bought a lot of sports tape and I will be taping up my ankle to help it heal. It seems that the tendon around my ankle that works with the arch is damaged at the moment which the doctor had no remedy for other than to sell me orthotics ....

I just find this whole deal a bunch of horse *censored* ... and at least horse *censored* is good fertilizer .

I still have the avenue of the doctor recommended in NOVA and possibly a doctor tomorrow that is near my work.

So far I have bought - organic tart cherry juice and I am researching some natural anti-inflammatory remedies . I have been reading how to extract and do other things to naturally cure any issues.

anger seems to help the issue . I felt like I could walk a little better out of the doctors just from pure irritation and stupidity .

I could be wrong, but I believe that in many cases a podiatrist is NOT a medical doctor, though the professional associations kind of gloss over that. They can say "doctor" because the podiatrist technically has a doctorate. Like your dentist is called "doctor" but you wouldn't want him to try to take out your gall bladder. (As my academic Ph.D. friends hate to hear people say, "Oh. Not a REAL doctor." )

A friend was telling me about his foot problems. His daughter is a physical therapist, and she was able to help him quicker and far more simply (and cheaper, I'm sure) than his podiatrist. So you might explore that route, if you can find one with foot experience. I don't know if a physical therapist can act independently of a physician, but your x-rays sound like they would be a useful starting point.

I am under the impression this is to be true ! I feel like the chiropractor I used to go to understand my ankle and feet better . I went to the doctor for answers or to at least see if I was doing the right thing to heal my feet.

I don't think that orthotics are the answer for the rest of my life . I asked about exercises but didn't get much feedback from that . I will continue with the ones I have seen on YouTube . I think you are right about finding a physical therapist to see if they can take on this issue and possibly help walk me through regaining better support in my ankles . I want someone who can watch me walk and at least touch my feet a little to help relieve some of the pain. They were clean , I washed them before I went ! Haha

I did a little taping tonight with the sports tape and it is helping this evening to walk on but I need to practice a bit more to get a more comfortable tape job.

Thanks for the input and support

Right now my feet are feeling good on the boot rails of the G6 !

Which brings up another idea beyond the physical therapist: A friend had serious knee problems and got excellent help from a physician who specializes in sports medicine. He was pretty young, though (35), and the knee was a flareup of an old injury from playing rugby -- so that's a little different from feet that have just plain weakened from wear and tear. But still, it might be worth investigating...

Putting heat on your feet likely is not helping LOL.

Feet feet feet ... they can take up to a year to be resolved. I saw a doc about my left foot and he wanted to either a) do surgery or b) let take it easy on the foot for a few weeks. After about 8 weeks of walking in those springy shoes relief came and after a year it was much better...I still cannot jump around like I'm 16.

We be old .. falling apart. Back, foot, hand, butt issues. Luckily I have no hair issues (already 90% gone LOL).

Only 40 yrs more to go ! Good grief. Looks like I picked the wrong week to get off meth !

3 weeks ago I used a ladder w/o wearing shoes ... man, I paid the price for that for another 2 weeks afterwards. Serenity now!

I know this is probably something you don't want to hear but I'll throw it out anyhow. May wife having been an ER nurse most of her career had ankle problems, went to a good orthopedic group & found that her ankles were indeed pretty much shot but her feet were way too far gone to provide proper support. Anyhow she went thru two surgery's a year apart to wire & screw the feet (triple arthrodesis) I believe it was called, she can walk pretty darn good now so is holding off on the ankles but then the other problem with cancer (unrelated) reared it's ugly head so everything else is on hold for now. But a good group like ours that have a specialist for most of the body & sports as well can do wonders, the sports doc fixed my shoulder & it required an extra post or screw than is normally done but he got it fixed pretty good.

Thanks for the testaments guys . believe it or not I think this was a good thing to realize that a podiatrist probably isn't the best avenue to go down from this point on. I am under the impression now that a sports medicine physical therapist will most likely be my best option .

A couple of things that pose a silver lining in this dark cloud:

I have done more research on my body and am beginning to understand this all a lot better. How my feet function with my ankle moving to my knees and then my back all the way to the brain. pretty cool!

I have pin pointed the problem spot on my ankle which directly works with the arch to support my foot.

The Posterior tibial tendon is the issue so I am diagnosing myself as having "Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (tendinitis) "

so now I can move forward with helping myself get the issue resolved .

This is a good article which helped explain it for me.

I've had tendinitis before & after stretching have a pop bottle with frozen ice water in it to roll under your foot, that helped almost as much as the exercise.

My dad recently had a bone spur on his heel. The foot doctor gave him two shots of Cortizone, he said that helped some. He also used the frozen water bottle rolling it under his foot and said he thought that rally helped. It would be worth a try. I hope you find relief.

I have had 3 surgery's on my rt ankle. The first was after my motorcycle accident. Compound fracture. Took a long time to feel okay and I was 21 when I did it. The 2nd and 3rd surgery's were for a bad sprain /strain I rolled my foot sideways hard. I would have been better off breaking it. The surgeon had to cut the tendons and shorten them. I forgot the procedure name. Then one more surgery for debriment . It bothered me for years. It really hurt when I first started martial arts but the stretching and strength training was what it needed. Between that and some occasional yoga the ankle issues and my planters faciatus have been very mild compared to prior. So maybe find a good therapist that specializes in sports injuries.
