Food prices will continue to soar

Besides our coal miners expenses let us consider .. One farmer in Lehigh County is quoted as saying: “I’ve got a tractor hooked up to my corn planter out here, no diesel fuel, and I can’t afford to get any.” The PA average for diesel is now $6.19 per gallon, up about 75% from a year ago, the report notes. It is a huge, huge expense for farmers. So let us be sympathetic to those guys with giant diesel machines. The situation looks as though it will continue to push food prices higher, after the government reported that food prices in May were 10.1% higher than last year.

Been urging people to grow food, offered them free plants etc. two people came for plants.
Mom and I have close to 80 tomato plants. plan is to barter fresh vegetables for meat. my son works at a butcher shop/take out. he's quite a good cook! he got it from his grandparents on both sides and his mom and I.

Don't forget the solar array to power it.

Im betting that farmer planted his crop but never unhooked the planter. Otherwise he might as well wait til next year. Its crazy times for sure. I dont know how a lot of people are making ends meet right now.

The bag of chips might cause gas so you can kill 2 birds with one stone...

This where we started, once we went away to convenience stores alone as our food source we got ourselves in trouble!

The electric tractors are here now... Why wait... Put your farm under the solar panels...

https://electrek.co/2021/08/04/solectrac-launches ... for-75000/

Charge from the panels and grow crops underneath...

Also the solar panels would power the well pumps and the irrigation and the power tools to weed

the crops. These would be high value crops like fresh vegetables and fruits.

All kinds of opportunity ...

you do know that farmers will run the tractors 24/7 to plant and harvest. How you going to do that when the tractor needs to be on the charger for a few hours at a time? what a waste of resources!!
How about making diesel fuel from hemp instead.

Fruits and veggies will grow better with horse poop around them than with solar panels around them.

But im sure since its such a stupid idea it will get billions in govt subsides.

Easy. Just like cordless tools, you spend a fortune to buy a bunch of them and have all but the one your using are laying around taking up more space while hooked up to chargers....... if the local power grid can even supply enough power for them.

Rather expensive way to save money. :baby:

Working on my stepson's 26 touring car in his garage yesterday, I had to move a pile of battery powered weedwacker, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, chain saw, extra battery packs, wall charging racks and all their cords just to get out the "hand-powered" floor jack buried under all that.

Yes the $6.50 a gallon diesel has yet to work its way completely through the system. As far as electric transportation ,one of the only things on the horizon (beside a recession) that can cut into gasoline demand and bring prices down.
