Finally some common sense. Hydro-Quebec will be providing 1,250 megawatts of power to the Con Edison grid. The power cables will go right by me in Lake Champlain.

I think this is the equivalent of ~5000 acres of solar panels? Article says the project is privately financed.

The solar project here is "supposed" to produce 45 MW on 558 acres of prime farmland. Thats .08 MW per acre. Doing the math to equal the hydro plant it would be 15,625 subsidized farm acres of panels (over 24 square miles of panels) here in an area the developer is calling prime for it. And the solar farms figures are probably hopeful.

You might get better solar generation there, I dont know.
