I think thats used to make shakes. Like cedar shakes, not chocolate shakes. I'd have to look up the exact name of the tool but I think thats what its used for.

Look up "wood froe".

It's used for splitting short logs with the gain by hitting the back edge with a wooden mallet. Faster than rip cutting with a saw.

Not good for wood with a wild grain pattern, or knots. Most woodworking guys make them out of an old leaf spring, but you can still buy them ready-made.

Might not have anything to do with Frontier. What is the error(s) message you are getting?

if you have cedar there you may enjoy making some shakes with it. Ive played with it a little and have watched mechanical ones at steam shows run off belts. The same thing can be done with a thick knife or machete which is how I did it.

If you sell it, just leave it how it is. Collectors would rather have them in original condition even if it is without a handle.

That looks like a shake splitter, I remember my grandfather using something like that to split shakes for the old wood shed.

Used for any wood spltting needs, such as furnature parts to even making "splits" kindling for stoves.

Thunderbird is the email that Linux is set up to use (at least with mine) so it probably wont cause any problems. Windows Hotmail is difficult with slower internet speeds. Im thinking thats what you were using.

You still running Windows 7 Fred? Give Linux a try sometime. For what your using your pute for you'd probably like it better. You can use a Linux CD without fully installing it just to see what you think.
