Coal ash is certainly coming in handy this year. Our long/steep 700 ft driveway has ice under the fresh snow from recent thawing and freezing. Nothing better than coal ash to gain traction. I grab a loader bucket full and head down the driveway with the 3 point plow behind. When I finish my plow swath at the bottom I start spreading ash by shaking the bucket for traction on the way back up the driveway. Works like a charm.

Use it all the time, I have 4-5 barrels in the back, my driveway on the north side of house and gets no sun, usually stays pretty icy. I told my neighbors if they need any, help themselves.
