From past experience, I'm afraid it's kind of an occupational hazard of hanging out with half-ton animals possessing the cerebral power of a cockatoo combined with massive kicking power. Unfortunately they can easily short-circuit into a fight/flight panic when confronted with such mortal threats as small fish swimming in shallow water at the edge of a pond, a small concrete garden statue or being asked to stop grazing and do something useful.
Don't get me wrong. I liked our horses, having and doing the work to care for them was great for the kids, and my ex eventually recovered from her injuries. So it's awesome for Shelley to be better and ready to get "back in the saddle". If I ever have horses again, though, I intend to buy them from the only source I can really trust - a taxidermist.

Come on P--but they're so cute!!!!!!!!! LOL 6 mos. 500 lbs to date. Probably get up to near a ton each. YEP, ya need to stay 2 steps ahead of them.
