Another day on the farm.

Slithered up the fire escape and put two bags of Desert Tan shingles on the roof. What do ya know the original roofers had nailed it about 2" to high. So an overweight old fart renailed it. Had to lift the shingles 4 at a time as I am to weak. This is absolutely, positively the last time I go on the roof. Now my right knee hurts. So Rob do ya want photos?
The Case 1845C needed a new hydraulic pump and coupling that I found on Amazon?????? It seems to work now I will let you know tomorrow as I tidy up the chit pile. The hydraulic fluid is disgusting but I am to lazy to drain it all out.
I can do all of this stuff as I am refined ... according to HB.
I'm done, it could be worse, I could have an coal hydronic system to maintain so I am counting my blessings .... hhahahah, I slay myself. Ouch, I need a new back.
The modern cure for my ills is now being taken .. Monkey Shoulder ... in a small glass. Fixes everything.
I am betting I will regret this post in the morning as I am a little drunk.

That nasty looking fluid is likely why the pump failed in the first place. When it warms up and you have recovered from the roofing job, change the fluid and filters...and use a fluid that meets the right specification.

Theres an old saying... The more you own, the more it owns you. It is very true. We buy things to make our lives easier and sometimes it does, at least for a while. But you had to work more to make the money to buy it, you have to repair it or work more to afford to fix it. Its a viscous circle, but none of us ever learn and keep doing it
Im waiting for CN to have his morning Irish coffee to enlighten us more....

They don't make it easy on the wallet. I have a 300 hour trans fluid change coming up. As I recall with the filters and the oil that job runs about $500.

Up with the Lark, right knee hurting ... photo courtesy of Shelley photos. Drive clean up started.... runs great. New Donaldson filter and 3 gallons of TSC fresh fluid... Perhaps we will drain later.....

My grandpappy said, before we buy something try going three days without. If you make that you never needed it in the fist place. Of course, the man was an idiot and died with only the clothes on his back. I need more chit. We need to keep America churning.
