i do small square bales.. need at least 48>60 hours good dry hot sun, no rain at all, to get each cutting done. This year.. not happening. get hay down, next day it rains, ted hay it rains, wind-rowed double ted today, it rained just as finishing wind rows. This time last year i did about 2K squares and better and sold. This year squat compared to that. its got to break soon weather wise. Tires on tractor always show dampness from water in ground. Roundy rollers need about 18 hours from cut to silage wrap. THIS SUCKS!!!

Only got my side of the road done here, it's the small side the larger field is at least 3 to 4 times more. Same thing with horse hay it has to be dry, it would be nice to get the first cut before the second is ready. Nothing you can do but wait & keep things ready.

Should make a sub-forum for this stuff.

Just got home and a mile from the house got behind a tractor pulling a wagon. He turned up a field road. i think they made hay and they're calling for rain tomorrow, get it in before it gets wet.

Usually we don't like 1st cutting it's to stalky but we just got a load of great hay from our local guy. A good DRY timothy mix with a little alfalfa we took all he had and paid him cash on the spot. Brooklands farm is alive and well this morning and he was making more yesterday. So what did he do with with the money? Bought his wife a BMW X5 diesel for her 50th birthday. We could have saved a step and I could have burned the hay cash on the farm and saved a step. I am living high on the hog. Great coal and hay. It's a shame I will just die from the heat this weekend as life was going well. This sensitive Hudson Valley boy can't take 97*.

Best field of hay I've seen here for years & it remains uncut, my neighbors southern help (that normally do most of the work) aren't showing up this year & he & the weather aren't too cooperative. I mow a walk way along the sides & the mower deck filled up with seed.

9th wettest June on record here. Seen hay getting done later than years passed, but better than not at all.

On a more positive note...being a wetter year has allowed the honeybees to gather a bumper crop.

My neighbor got both fields cut & most rowed & maybe about half bailed, it's gonna be another long hot day for them but at least it's dry.
