Code red here in SW PA yesterday, code orange today. Whole problem with all the wild fires is the idiots who worry about saving some bug in the ground instead of doing like the Indians did, gather up the tinder and do controlled burns. Problem solved.

My sister in North Carolina has smoke.... not nearly as bad as NY, but, wow. None to speak of in Maine, not even a haze. In years past we have smelled smoke from Canadian fires, and had hazy skies.... but you PA & NY guys..... it's got a grip on you.

How come I haven't read "USA sends water dropping planes to help with the fires"? We can send billions over seas, but we can't help the Northeast a bit?

Wednesday was the worst iv ever seen it. Thursday much better but still a slight haze. Today its cloudy but clear. The striking part was the strong smell of burning wood. I thought half my town was on fire until i learned of the source of the smoke.

Dont worry, it doesnt really leave. Every time the wind shifts it comes back at you. Then you wont see or smell it as much but its still at bad levels to breathe.

Our wind pattern is supposed to shift from NW to SW over the weekend so that should send it eastward over the ocean instead of down over us.

I hope it does. My smoke started from the NW and brought the Saskatchewan smoke, then the wind went south blowing it back, then north, etc, then switched to the east to get some of what your getting but lesser amounts. its been circling around for a couple weeks but didnt make the national news much until the east got hit. Yesterday and today have been decent but as long as the burn keeps going it will happen.

Strong wind and a lots of it, blow it all to China and Putins bunker.

Weather pattern yesterday and today has pushed it away from central NY. We got rain instead, which we needed, but now that it's clear outside I've gotta cut the grass.

Good news for me as it has to go directly over central NY to get to me. And thats exactly what it did on Wednesday.
Hundreds of fires burning in Canada with 238 of them listed as "out of control".

At what point in time can the USA declare this to be affecting our national security and the health and safety of Americans, allowing USA to go over and fix what the lazy Canadians cannot ?

We started a 20 yr war over the deaths of 1000 Americans after 9/11. How many deaths do we have to wait to occur before taking action?

The bad forest management is getting fixed as we speak. It will be quite awhile before there is anything left to burn again. As for the Canadians "an education is expensive'.

I just spent a few days in northern PA. Sullivan county. Crazy heavy smoke last Tuesday already. AQI number was something like 461. The worst got down my way a day or two later. Have COPD and it did a number on me. Worst air quality ever recorded, they say. Back home we're down to about 35 from 450 and had a light shower earlier. Sounds like it may creep back next week to some extent. There were 5 fires burning in NE, Pa. I think it's down to 2 now.

I saw what center city Pittsburgh air looked like in the early 60's. You could hardly see across a street. Everyday. Also saw LA, Cal. smog in the early/mid 60's. That stuff would eat the rubber off of anything.

No one finds it strange how the fires all started at once, ignoring the video, think its fake ?
