Oozing puss like stuff all around and there is a connection to the lymph system hence the need for antibiotics. Thx for your interest. He spent an hour trying to wrench it out of the fence. Eventually I got help ... nightmare

My wife is the horse person, I'm just the groom. Hahaha. We had a new horse jump off 5 foot drop and slice both front knees open. That was a long 3 months.

OF course, Duke wriggled on his side for over and hour and got a lot of surface abrasions but Alushield is treating those. He is tough and we are gong to make it. I hope three months but I suspect longer and then do we turn him out?

Exercise promotes blood flow. As the amount of healing allows, I guess.

WTM, horses may not be your thing but you have listened well. Just walking around the ring here is the best thing possible. Bored of course ... tough

Simon, I had a horse come up with some frog rips & picked up some "SORE NO-MORE" from an Amish neighbor--after trying many other things--it worked well--I know your sitiuation is different but ya might want to look into it.

My wife said that we used raw honey on the knees as a antibacterial. Helps with healing. And debridement of the wound. We would use a 60 ml needleless syringe with saline to cleanse it first. She's an RN that's had horses since she was 12. Unique knowledge base. Has to be raw honey or medical grade. Horses are her passion, helping people pays the bills.

If she has such a unique knowledge base then she must know the difference between a topical problem and a systemic issue. Knees and lymph systems are different. There WTM I warned you before about listening to women, it will be your undoing ... hahahahahhahahha, I just kill myself I am soooo funny

In his 20s, don't really know. Giant bugs on his back and he tried to roll over... or a heart condition that we have suspected before. Or as a wise man once said ... that's horses for you. FF will understand that one.
You mentioned a heart condition and it made me think of this story…

The wife, myself and my uncles family was at a horse pull event at the county fair back in the late 1990’s.

We had noticed a nice green Chevy dually truck and some folks sitting in lawn chairs between the truck and horse trailer…just jawing and having fun visiting before the pull. They had brought 2 teams to the pull.

Sometime during the event behind us we seen some commotion over there direction where a small crowd had gathered.

After the event we walked by their truck and noticed the side of the truck was all bashed in from the extended cab back to the center of the rear wheel. Looked like another truck had hit him in the side with extensive damage. I walked over and asked what had happened to their nice truck…

Guy told me one his Belgians must have had a heart attack and ran smack into the side of his truck and fell over dead.

On the smaller cuts and abrasions what about EMT gel???

I’m not a horse person but it seems to do well on the field dogs. Also was highly recommended by some veterinarians who played doggie games with us.
