Around here those "freight trains" are sitting in the "station" most of the time not spinning. Adding wind and solar is a wasted expense until you can safely and reliably get power to where it's needed.
The State and Fed money to subsidize wind and solar would be better spent on upgrading the grid. At least with nuclear plants they fit closer to where they are most needed cutting down on transmission cost and power loss. And they need far less land for the amount of power they produce. Plus, if you're really about the "environment" they are less impact on the environment than wind and solar.
And unlike wind and solar, they can supply power 24/7/365 for decades, and not just when the wind is blowing just the right speed range,..... or the sun is out and they ae not covered in snow/ice.
A little newer data - July 2022.

Passed. Not past. Sorry big guy. Don't read EVERYTHING off the teleprompter.
All of the nuclear plants will be obsolete by the time they are built....
Their cost of electric is not competitive with the renewables.
See the items I posted about the UK power in the coal index.
It reminds me of the ships that we built for cruises that never had any
passengers and went to the scrap yard for breaking up for scrap.

A report of one cruise ship scraped because of covid lock downs is a really lame way to try and prove that nuclear power plants are obsolete.
How would "renewables" compare to other types of power generation if all their gov subsidies and tax write-offs were removed ?

Hey BB have you stuck a big windmill up in your yard ,.... or covered your property with solar panels yet ? If you believe they are so good, then why not ?

Because in that part of OH the sun does not shine from Nov to March and yet you still have monthly payments to the power company and your panels run at 15% efficiency for 4 hours a day tops. Don't like what you spent $40000+ on? Sorry, read the PPA written by lawyers that you can't get out of. You died or wish to sell your property? Sorry again that is no excuse. Fools errand. Buy coal up the wazoo and get a real deal.

NYS leading the way into darkness. Start stockpiling candles and heavy fur coats,... we're heading back to the 1800s.

Excellent. Once you have those up and running please redirect power from the Lake Ontario Nuke plants to the East. We will happily take cheap baseline power over intermittent power.BigBarney wrote: ↑Fri. Aug. 19, 2022 10:05 amWere getting the windmill blades needed for Western NY .

How many windmills are you getting in your yard ? Think of all the money you could be making when the wind blows at just the right speed.
