This is going to affect just about any browser accept for Firefox and Safari. Make sure your browser is updated. Not a lot of details but it's an unusual update in it's deployment and because of those circumstances it has to be pretty bad.

I know you used it, likely others. There will come a day it just wont work. My XP took until this past year to be impossible to use online, almost anyway. Bookmarks wont open, searches wont work, videos wont work. etc.

I liked 7. It was simple to use.

You should still be able to use and update the Chrome Browser from Google on Win 7.

I guess I should of been more specific. Chromium is the base code for most browsers including Chrome and Edge. They are typically set to auto update however if you are like me and leave the browser open they won't update until you close it.

For Chrome to force an update you can click the three little dots in the upper right bar and down the bottom >> help >> "About Chrome".

For you guys running old PC's that just use them for emails and browsing the web, there is another option:

https://linuxmint.com/

I installed that on my dad's 12 year old Dell and he got along with it fine for a few years until the hard drive died. I upgraded him to a ~2015 Dell with Windows 10 and he is doing fine with that as well.

Just to add Windows 7 the operating system is EOL for more that 2 year. Any exploits in the operating system will remain unpatched.

Chrome and Edge still support it so you can get updates for the browsers.

Browsers no longer support XP and there is significant changes in web design since support was dropped. Even if you want to take the risk it's simply impossible to use other than legacy software.

Yep, when I start that pute it tells me that its no longer supported. There arent many sites that will open well on it other than email and that can even be hard sometimes. I cant download many things either because of the clock issue but no biggie there.

I can still use the pute with my USB vinyl converter, VHS converter, and picture programs that I still prefer over what linux offers as I just dont need all the silly options. Mostly just cropping and cloning. I can do better with those on my xp than linux. Video editing we have discussed before but I liked windows 7 for that but dont have it now so havent done it in a while.

Will 7 and 8.1 browsers also be unsupported at some point? I would think so. Ive been trying out Linux Zorin Lite on one of my putes and like it so far better than Mint. Real fast. My Mint does lock up once in a while but there are better Mint versions than what I use, from what Ive read.

VHS converter,
If you are interested I have for sale a nearly new JVC 9911 VHS, canopus advc-110 and the crowning jewel a Datavideo TBC-1000. Check the prices on Ebay.

The JVC unit is highly sought after because of one feature called "DNR", it can remove chroma noise which is that rainbow type noise. The TBC fixes timing issues and can help improve the capture quality of any tape.

I can also throw in a copy of Ulead Quartet which includes a professional multitrack editor and DVD Workshop which is a professional DVD authoring program. The only thing better is Scenartist which was many thousands of dollars 20 years ago. Software only works on XP,

If interested send me a PM.

Certainly they will, looks like Chrome/Edge supports ends in a year or two.
