The right to repair argument... Cars,Tractors,Computers, other electronics...

I believe that much of this was already settled in that you only pay for a license

to use software and do not ever own it. You can't change any of the firmware

but can enter your own data where this would be applicable . These issues will

continue as long as people want to change the software for some reason.

The mechanical parts can be generally be repaired but most service workers

are not trained in the electronics repair, they can do the electrical repairs.

Many electronic parts are not field serviceable so replacement is the only

viable solution. The test equipment diagnostics are much more complicated

and require a large investment , and even then many repairs are not feasible

at the dealer level.

What do you think ????

I have tablets that have outdated Android on them but LOCKED bootloaders, rendering them useless. Vendor refuses to unlock the bootloader.

Question of warranty tends to be "will function as produced" instead of "will function without defects"

There was a post about this at some point in the past. I have not kept up as well as I should but farmers have had small victories against JD if Im remembering correctly. Its pretty crappy of any manufacturer to do this but then again people are buying the stuff.

Doesnt Tesla do this also? Where if you sell it the new buyer has to buy the tech seperate?

You can get "JD" tattooed on your ass and feel alot better about that purchase! Nice fishing,Barn! I'm still expecting Da' Other Shoe to drop and segue into some "Electric Tractor Farce".....
