This type of material would have wide usage in many places where

you have wide temperature changes that cause leaks in regular

connectors. More research needed .

Interesting bit of related trivia, the SR-71 leaked fuel while on the ground. Because of heat expansion the length of the plane increased up to a foot while in flight and it would self seal. Amazing what you can do when you have a genius with a slide rule.

They were 401 Buicks but were later switched to LS7 454 Chevys. Must have been quite an experience being there when they were started. Very tricky deal so they went pneumatic eventually.
