https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-3600/p/N82E168 ... 19-113-569 Last 2 computers were AMD processors, current one i built my self. That was 9 years ago or so. Just looking to get last computer, build with AMD based boards/cpus. Not a gamer so OC and such doesn't matter. AMD for a while was questionable when i did last build. Reused atx case i had for it. Intel just seems to chip change CPU units like most people change underwear. Just last week installed win 10 on win7 pro on current computer Seamlessy, worked right out of box.... no backing up anything manually. All done in new install.
Bail on AMD or stick to whats been good? Cheaper to buy pre-assembled box units, but options for graphics/sound can be limited.
Thought about Linux OS.. but they have it on computers at work. Not impressed. Yes company IT techs designed parameters in, but its sluggish for multi tasking.
slowly thinking of new build

My last computer build was about 10 years ago, and that was also an AMD machine. When I got ready to upgrade it I realized I could buy a used business class desktop for considerably less money than upgrading my old computer, so that is what I did. Nothing against AMD, but Intel machines are much more common. I am now on my 2nd Dell Optiplex, which has an I7 processor and SSD drive. It runs Windows 10 and Linux very well. If you are not a gamer, the onboard graphics on a business desktop should be plenty.

Get an Intel chip that has video built in...
You can add video card later...
Love ASUS boards...
M2 support for a drive...
Do a high core count i5 and load it with ram..

What Rob said above. I am typing this on my last build of at least 10 years and it is a dual core AMD....built for gaming at the time, obsolete before it arrived. We got a new (scratch and dent) Dell with an Intel chip.....works fine.

I'm not a gamer nor do I do any video or anything that needs high performance so my current computer is a refurbished Dell. It came without a monitor just a cheep keyboard and mouse, a one terabyte hard drive and a clean installation of windows and a dvd backup, no bloatware. All for about $125.
I'll never by a new one again.
