I sadly must report that the Israeli lunar lander did not succeed in its mission to make a safe landing on the far side of the moon. Still a great accomplishment for such a small country, with a very small budget for this project.

It wasn't an Israeli government project. It was a private non profit that did this.

I read an article about it, said they were initially competing for the Google Award for a private company to land on the moon. When Google canceled the competition, they decided to keep going. Indomitable Spirit!
