It's a good thing this site isn't affected by PB, cause it looks like they're down....again. Another site I'm on uses PB for hosting, and everyones pics are gone. Not even a PB ad or icon. I know a year ago their site had issues, and was taken over by new management. Guess they weren't able to work out the bugs either. I had a "bunch" of photos over there, and don't know how to retrieve them. I still have them on my PCs picture section, but really hope PB can get their act together. Google isn't showing any new faults either. Have any of you guys been affected, or heard what their dilemma is?

Their site is very buggy and unreliable...which is why we encourage everyone to just upload pictures directly to Coal pail rather than linking to their Photobucket accoint.

Agree 100% Rob, upload here and they are safe forever.... No broken or faulty links, no drama.

This site (I guess) has the ability to accept photos in the methods the way you do, but do other sites have the same options? Why would they use those other host sites?

I haven't used a "photo hosting" site in years, they are a thing of the past. Nearly all forums and websites nowadays have their own photo bases. It just works out better to use them.

I wish my Trans Am forum had that option Lee. As of yet, they don't.
(P.S. Hope you were able to sleep last night)

When the first hint that PB was holding people's photos hostage unless they paid, I went into my account and removed all my pix. Then I closed down my account. Just as well. They were becoming very slow to use. And, none of the sites I post pictures to now need a hosting site, so my life got easier.

Just 'cause they call them "Firebirds" doesn't mean pix of 'em belongs on a coal forum.

It can get expensive especially if you never took any steps to help prevent unnecessarily large files. This site is approaching 75K attached files and they require more than 20GB of space. May sound like a lot of space but not really, if I had not been resizing them from the start I'd be up to about 150GB using conservative estimate of 2MB per image.

We appreciate all your efforts Richard, which is why you're the most popular coal site in the world. I can't even imagine what goes on behind the scenes, but must require a G8 load of patience. Thanks to you.

Photo Bucket committed very public suicide a while back. What you might see now are scraps and extortion until people find alternatives.

This is a very well run and configured site. "Black Rock" solid
