Hey everyone, just looking for opinions and suggestions, I don’t have wi-fi first off, I’m just looking for a half way descent security monitoring system for the house, nothing fancy, just something I can look back on at the end of the day or something to check the property and see if anyone has been here or not. I would also like to have a camera out front at the entrance if at all possible, approximately 400’ from the house. So in all, looking for I guess 3-4 cameras, one or two inside, a couple outside, and just something I can view on the tv or something, that records throughout the day, or longer.

Thanks!

His system is wi-fi fred, just like mine at my old house, this cannot be wi-fi, just looking for a recording/viewing system from a tv or monitor.

There are plenty of dedicated security systems, with a DVR to record video.

With that said, why do you not have wireless internet? iP cameras are cheap, and can be setup to email you pictures if motion is detected, etc.

A lot of different Choices out there. Here's a wired one. with a lot of features. most I-R Night vision cameras only work up to maybe 100 feet or so, quality is usually pretty good.

I run couple wi-fi cameras front and rear at home. with motion activation and movable remotely to my smart phone, etc.... for under $75/ea they work pretty good.

You probably know this but you don't need to have internet to use a wi-fi router for an internal network. Thats what I would use so running wires to the cameras wouldn't be necessary. I don't know if it would make it 400' but a repeater could be used if you have power somewhere along that 400' run. You can cable your dvd or computer to the wifi router or make that a wireless connection too.

Indeed. I thought most places at least have DSL available.

I am surprised you have any cell reception out there.

Lol the only reason we do have reception is because at&t has a tower on terry mountain, Verizon has no service here.

I actually did not know that. I have power out at the entrance, it’s 300 feet from the house. Probably still to far.

We got DSL through Frontier here but absolutely no cell service till I get out of the valley. Makes the grandkids crazy--LOL I do have gun towers though that deter intruders H. :)
