This is not anti coal for me it just lays out our options and quantifies things brilliantly. I thank God I am near to the PA mines but a lot of people do not have this option. This is highly recommended viewing.

So if 25% of the land mass of the entire UK was covered with solar farms, wind farms, biofuel plantations, etc... it could just eek by on renewable energy, but anything less will not cut the mustard. A fair first assumption would be something similar for the USA. It's not going to happen.

I have a hard enuff time of future planning my retirement, never mind life after fossil fuels. Enjoy what you have today, 'cause tomorrow is short lived.

My prediction is that within 10 years at tops the fracking energy boom will have peaked and gone into terminal decline.

I just wanna know what that guy is smoking, shooting, or otherwise to demonstrate so much personal energy. He almost outruns his ability to form words.

Yes but that will have moved the ball forward about 60 years from the first time I heard that fossil fuels were in a terminal decline. Come on, renewables, how much time do you need?

Will never happen without population reduction. So let's look at alternative mixes.

No talk of the cost of building the renewables or the energy required.

Several times I have offered the government my plan to harness the power of falling leaves, but the swine won't listen.

Highly unusual of them... no energy would be spent putting the leaves back onto the trees.

They want to drop a huge weight into a hole & then use that power to lift it again or coast a weighted train down a steep hill & then use that power to bring it up the hill again... but won't go with a falling source that needs no power to start over again. :baby:

My latest thoughts on energy storage are like this.

I have 2 Lister CS/6s which are slow speed generators with flywheels already (4 kw sustained at 600 rpm). I remember a failed NJ project of making inspection shops put in Garrett/Mustang dynos at $40,000 a pop. They are now around being cleared out for next to nothing.

So how do I link them? How much energy can I store? How can I get the energy out? Come on Franco, there must be something here you can make fun of. Here I go drinking at the well again. :D

With 2 flywheels aren't you set for life? Each one can just recharge the other when it starts to slow down!?? :annoyed: :baby:

If the cage weighed a ton then you would have a game... you need to do a little research. There are many flywheel projects out there. I am still hoping for an intelligent reply.
