The roadster survived, but per 'Popular Science', it is off course, and is headed for the asteroid belt.

Coalnewbie:::

I have read that report and it is correct as of 1998 grid crash.

They have tried to use this example to make adjustments in the software

to shift power more efficiently to minimize the problem of tripping the

main breaker to take a power plant offline when not necessary due to

a temporary situation.

Electric cars usually are charged at night and these over demands are

not in the peak usage time.

I was just notified the National Grid will change my meter to enable a

"time of use" rate for my Chevy Bolt EV.

They have a rate that allows me to charge from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM

at a discounted rate. From 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM you pay at the peak

rate , there is a super peak rate June - August from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

and there is a $17.00 basic charge and a $3.36 extra meter reading charge.

That is the Voluntary TOU rate. And this is the standard TOU rate..

Here is the regular residential rate..

They will also let you change after 1 year on the rate if it would be cheaper on the

other rates. They will give a comparison at that time. If the other rates would be

cheaper they refund the difference. Here are few rates for February...

They change daily...

But how are you going to have a surplus of power at night when all the other normal plants close and we are on wind and solar? You are using current power production status for your propaganda. And add 2 houses or 3 for every electric car, multi car families you know. Talk about sprawl! How big is that service line into the house going to need to be? LOL.....I know right? We are going to develop a battery that will charge in 30 min on doorbell wire....

None of this matters because soon you won’t need to own a car. The iPhone app for autonomous cars will be cheaper 🤪

That is probably in the near future , when car expenses are beyond their customers.

Not that long ago people financed cars for 36 months , now they go out to 72 and even

84 months , beyond the useful life of a heavily used vehicle.

Car sharing will be common and the cars will be utilized to the hilt so the replacement cycle

will be short , but many less vehicles are needed. Many models will be eliminated to cut

the cost of manufacturing and there will be less auto manufacturers .

There is plenty of off peak electric available now and in the future . Less peaking power will

be needed and the base load will be better utilized.

"Considering charging time only matter for long-distance travel or commercial applications since most charging is done overnight or whenever a car is parked for long periods of time, there’s not really an actual necessity to bring electric car charging to the speed of refueling a tank of gas as a lot of people claim."

How often does the average driver go more than 230 miles in a day ????

"The first-year results of the American Driving Survey revealed that: Motorists age 16 years and older drive, on average, 29.2 miles per day or 10,658 miles per year. Women take more driving trips, but men spend 25 percent more time behind the wheel and drive 35 percent more miles than women."

Cars that go 200 - 400 miles per charge are 99+% of all driving.
