You can't protect all your privacy these days but I won't give up. I will do what I can.Richard S. wrote:What he is using anonymizes his personal IP which is one way you are tracked especially if you have taken measures to block other things. Your ISP assigns an IP to the router, you are the only one in the entire world with that number. The limitations of tracking by IP is their can be any number of computers behind that router in the household. A VPN takes that a step further and is routing all their customers traffic through an IP. This by itself will not anonymize you but it's very big step.freetown fred wrote:T, do you really believe all that? I have NEVER trusted all this cyber crap & will continue to believe that ANYONE with the know how can get any info they want from anyone they want no matter how secure they claim to be.
This becomes problematic for someone running a server, when you have traffic coming from the same IP making multiple requests that is associated with potential unwanted behavior. For example DDoS attacks, bots searching for exploitable scripts and rogue bots scraping content. If there is few customers using that VPN to access this site you will all find it unavailable for short time.Turbogeno wrote:Some sites block their IP's but the vast majority of my surfing is (I hope) known only to me.
On a side note if anyone finds that happening to them let me know.
Here's a good one. I work out of my house and have a company provided car. My only option other than quitting is paying them $100.00 per month for personal mileage. They recently installed a Telematics device in all company vehicles and they monitor us like the worst of Big Brother. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telematics
They reserve the right to sell the data they collect to anyone they want. Every auto insurance company in the country wants that data including mine. I now obey traffic law to the letter and the roads are more a bit more dangerous for me due to a couple of dangerous passes on 2 lane roads. I put a sticker on the back of the car that says. "I'm Being Tracked Please Don't Tailgate" I pull over to let people pass all the time. That POS company car now costs me over $3.00 per personal mile. There are a couple ways I can defeat it which include unplugging it on personal time and I risk termination doing so. I will do what I can to protect my privacy. There are valid $ reasons why I stay with them but it isn't easy. 7 years to retirement and counting.
