Banking is USPS, nothing worth a c rap is on my computer as I assume it HAS been hacked by people a lot smarter than me. No W2K or even a password. Quicken is on a laptop that is not even connected as I do not want my debts made public. Every year I service my abacus with a little animal lard and my candlestick phone dialer gets a drop of three in one.

Is a router the same thing as a modem or are they separate?

Modem was what the computer used to communicate through the phone. Router is that plus wireless and other means, connectivity to multiple devices. A multitasking modem on steroids if you will.

I STILL HAVE A MODEM FOR MY COMPUTER AND A SEPARATE RABIT EAR LOOKIN THING FOR THE TV SO WE CAN GET NETFLIX AND HULU. So I guess my lo tech firewall by unplugging the thing will still work!
