Its easy to save on cell phone plans and TV. Its the internet that is the most costly in this place. Tv $30. Cell phone plan $30. Internet $71. Unfortunately its the internet that make the other 2 work .

I get a few hundred channels from a streaming service Mach TV for $20 a month. All the major stuff. I mostly watch news and movies and plenty of that on there.
For the frugal free streaming.... Many more are even available....

Still need internet , maybe an unlimited cell plan will fill the bill...

Like many here our cable bill kept rising month after month. I would call up and complain, my bill would drop for a few months then start creeping up again. We only have one cable provider in our area so we are stuck. My wifes friend finally convinced us to try Directv Now. We already had a streaming stick and dtvn had a promotion. Got dtvn and kept cable for about a month to be sure it all worked out. Couldn’t be happier, saving a ton of money! That was the best feeling turning in our cable boxes. When asked why I’m canceling I simply told them the truth. The salesman said they hear this several times a day. I do find it a bit buggy, but worth the tradeoff. We can even watch local news through an app for the stick. They recently added a dvr service. This too I find to be glitchy, but it’s new and I’m sure the bugs will get worked out. One thing I didn’t realize is that you still need cable service to watch locked content. Not everything, but some content is locked and requires a log in to unlock. Example, I tried viewing some older kids shows for my little ones through the Disney Jr. channel. It asks to choose a cable provider from the list then requires you to log in. I log in but receive a message stating that the content is not available with my current package. Yea...I don’t have a package!!! All in all...worth it.

Yes, but if you have a friend who does ... So if we come across a locked program we pick Optimum online and then enter her ID and password. Has never failed in two years as OOL let's you log in from anywhere on just about anything and concurrently. It does not matter if the original user is on line at that moment it still works and no we don't have OOL. LI, is that not that land mass past NYC after the Cross Bronx Expressway that I promised I would never go on again ...don't ask .. ... yes they have OOL.. Yea...I don’t have a package!!!

The cable companies reign of terror comes to an end. $100 + monthly bills. Thing of the past. The mafia of home entertainment losses its chokehold.

Cell only and jetpack once in a while and no other credible service provider.

The ISP's are buying up the content providers. Just look at what AT&T is doing. Pretty soon only a few will own everything you touch when it comes to this subject. Expect to pay more in the future for anything that has to do with media.

Not sure what you have for a cell plan, but you may want to look at the Verizon prepaid plans (if you have not already).coalnewbie wrote: ↑Tue. Jul. 17, 2018 7:04 amCell only and jetpack once in a while and no other credible service provider.

Yeah, tried that one. For those old farts that use Verizon you can get a discount just by calling in but of course they don't tell you about that one.

This is why i always tend to support the small local business or just find an out of the box solution. I don't shop at walmart much ,even though its already run just about everyone else out of business. These mega companies want to run the whole world ,sell only imported goods with as few employees as possible.Homesteader wrote: ↑Tue. So I've been doing some research on over the air HD TV and after agonizing over reviews and checking broadcast maps I've settled on the ClearStream 4 Indoor/Outdoor HDTV Antenna with Mount - 70 Mile Range and this Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT HDTV Preamplifier. The total was around $130 from Amazon. That is ten dollars less than one month of Dish Network. If I can't get anything worth watching, it can all go back, no harm no foul. If it does work, I'll add on a DVR and cancel Dish Network. Lets see what happens...
