Yeah that's neat lol. I've wanted to build a bass out of a 2×4 and strap 2 sinkers across it for frets. Then use lag bolts for tuning keys lol
Used to be some old guys that played bluegrass at a local flee market on weekends. The bass was an upside down galvanized tub with a string from the center. The other end of the string was attached to the top end of a stick, bottom end of stick was rested on the tub. He plucked the string while moving the top of the stick to change frequency/tone. It actually sounded pretty decent.
