Just picked up 4.5 tons at $239/bagged ton of rice coal. +$50 delivery fee down in Clinton, NY. Seems to be the cheapest around (not to mention the only one that seems to actually have coal).
About two months ago, I picked up a ton at $220/bagged ton in Ovid, NY (South of Geneva, NY; an hour drive East of Rochester, NY).

Actually that's quite a good price for bagged coal no matter where you're getting it. Typical price for bagged aound here is $5.

OK I called around. Not many coal dealers left in RI. Price from the one I found, $210/ton rice picked up, about $255 delivered
maybe I should get a multi-ton truck and head to PA!

Coal prices around here:
$243/ton delivered bulk rice coal
~$10 / bag (100 lb bag) picked up
Looks like I'll be going with bagged and picking it up!
I really can't justify the price of renting a truck to travel further. With gas prices what they are, it doesn't make sense (kinda like heating with gas).

I paid $210/ton delivered to Weedsport, NY. Bought three tons and had it dropped into a bin. I called all around my region for the best pricing. Below is the website I used to search for coal dealers.

I looked into that, my truck can haul 3 tons. I called a dealer's supplier who has the best coal I've seen. 10 bags is the limit just like the dealer. What the ????. I could buy loose up to 6 ton at $150per. that means to save $150, I'd spend $120 on diesel and spend 8 hours on the road to save $30. I'm not doing that. I'll keep checking, PM me if you see a deal.BurninCoalInRI wrote:OK I called around. Not many coal dealers left in RI. Price from the one I found, $210/ton rice picked up, about $255 delivered

I don't understand this dealer, most of his coal goes to the pizza joints in New Haven. So he limits his private customer purchases to 10 bags. He never knows when he will get more, and swears he can't pick up the phone and just order more. He wouldn't even order me a 5 ton purchase. Coalman, does this make sense? Is there a shortage or no trucks available, I just can't understand it.
