Looks like it is getting tight about now, I went to pick up 3 tons this morning. The dealer said his delivery is a week late and it will be another week before he gets it. I had to settle for a ton of stove and nut mixed @ $200 a ton. I suppose that should be fine as it will be REAL cold the next few weeks. I think this summer I'll get 2 loads, about 7 tons and save the big grief.
Well at least the only time I burn oil is when I go to get coal, my Super Duty Ford is a diesel! :)

Just checked my supplier quoted me $300 a ton OUCH!!!! For rice to the door. Up from $260 I paid in Sept. Found another place here on the Island of Long, $265 a ton to the door. Have about 1 1/2 tons left. Wish I lived closer to NEPA.
Stay warm Jimmy

We have a coal supplier about 12 miles from here in Fabius, NY. His price is $190.00 per ton for rice, picked up. I don't know his dilvery rate. There is another supplier 14 miles away in Madison NY. Maybe my next coal run will be from them, not sure what their price is yet.

I just spent TWO HOURS searching for bulk coal (retail) suppliers in California. Only thing I could find was bagged coal for blacksmithing and model steam railroading........all very expensive, per bag. Does ANYONE know of a west coast or western U.S. supplier?

good luck finding coal in california. the land of CARB does not look kindly upon the stuff. try your local coal fired powerplant, if there's any left out there. all you will be able to find is bituminous in new mexico, nevada and utah. anthricite will not be economical, it is too expensive to ship that distance.

wenchris, I believe we purchased our stoves from the same dealer on route 112. I paid 250 a ton for 2 1/2 tons in late oct. Now you say it's up to $300 a ton. THe kid who owns the place seems great but the mother and father in the office are out there a little bit. I get the feeling there is some price gouging going on with those guys. Where did you find the other coal suppier?

I've been quoted $88/ton for bituminous stoker coal of the Illinois variety picked up.

I also can get bagged anthracite rice or nut for about $290/ton right here in Rockford, IL.
