Last i checked my supplier was a good 20 to 25% HIGHER than last year. Since they are just about giving away Nat gas and new gas boilers right now im changing to Nat gas for heat. hw and cooking. Il keep the coal boiler for a backup but if i cant get coal under $250 a ton i wont be using it this coming heating season.

$495/ton here in west/central Ohio for bagged nut.
Using Coalpail.com's fuel comparison tool.....I'll be filling my propane tanks up next week for $1.50/gal and saving over $400/mill btu.
Am I wrong?

As long as you have the efficiencies right it would be correct. There is electric use and repairs also.

Yes, I agree....
Not sure about the electric use, if it's included in that formula, but my furnace is a 90% efficiency, the formula I used was set on 85%.
After thinking about repairs, I guess a blower running on my propane furnace verses my anthracite furnace would be close in comparison???
And it is a bit easier to turn a thermostat than tend to coal fire! :D

I just wish that anthracite was about $200-$300 per ton. That would make it more exciting to burn!
Being able to use different, multi-fuel ways to heat the home is a plus.

I wish it were still cheap also. I did buy a ton this year and have wood, but will get some propane also as my tank is down to 2% full and I use it for cooking. Its been 18 years since my last propane purchase. My propane space heater is about 72% efficient but isnt hooked up now. It may be in the spring.

I hope propane is below 1.50 here, i havent checked. Last year it was closer to $2 at this time. Just be ready to burn anything and burn whatever is cheapest I guess.

Im beginning to feel that way. I didnt think coal would ever cost more than oil but its already more than gas.
