Not noticed an issue with Blashak (santa claus) coal. Sourcing coal issues, yes. Quality? Not that I have seen. Sounds like you have more ash content than normal ?
If you have old coal samples of previous "good" coal you might be able to do your own ash analysis. And compare. Many colleges will allow people to use equipment...ash testing is pretty simple. You just burn it all up via burner or oven.

The Blaschak bulk I got June 2022 has a good amount of softer quick-burn in it. It's always a blend, but I have gone through WAY more than I should have in the past 3 months. Even on moderate settings. Ash level is not bad, about average or better. 2021 blend was harder, I thought. Seen better for sure and also worse. IMO, Anthracite home heating coal sold has been declining in quality for some years. I've been burning for most all of the last 45 years. I suspect that a lot of the best and easiest to mine was high-graded many years ago. Not as much available to blend down the crap. More places have quit bagging coal.
I read a post on another coal group's page that said that Jeddo's pickup went from $198/ton to $254/ton on Feb. 1st.
