For free entertainment, I occasionally look on facebook marketplace at coal and stoves for sale. I've seen more than a few knee-slappers.

Just today I saw an ad of a basement bin of coal being sold from someone in Montgomery county. They are selling in 10 lb. bags, for $7 each. Another in Schuylkill county had what looked to be the last bottom dregs of an old bin for sale. It looked like nearly all fines with a few lumps. Maybe, 3/4 ton. $300, reduced from $500. "don't try to lowball me." Several others that will fill your 5 gal. bucket for $8 or $12. For every one of those, there are 20 people selling the dregs of their old fuel oil tanks at $$$.

Also, beaten down 70's and 80's coal or wood stoves with all bricks broken and no door glass, $900. If I see one more 50-93 for sale that sat out in the rain for 5 years and missing the load door, for $900, I'll scream!

Yes saw the basement gold listed near here, i got a laugh out of it!
I list coal stoves for sale on marketplace and get no responses. Had several stoves listed a while ago, nothing but no shows or people asking if it will burn wood.

I do the same. Saw that add @ 7$ for 10lbs and was so taken away i had to show the wife (she does not understand my obsession with coal) It is ridiculous though.

5 or 10 years ago you saw very few coal stoves for sale online in Pa. I did find my DS on Craigslist about 11 years ago. Guy bought it at DS the year before but his wife was scared of it. Never lit. I paid about 75% of new price.

For the past year there have been endless stoves for sale, so I guess it's hard to get noticed. I have seen a few high end parlor stokers with a ton or two of coal for good prices.

For that price I will pick up all the spent bits of coal the previous owners of my house dumped off in the yard by the big maple trees and start bagging them up to sell

Message them and ask how many bags they have sold. If the number is high, post an add that undercuts their price.
