Just bought two tons of Blaschak rice at $575 per ton 40 lb bags picked up. Dealer says next load will be even higher price.

Those prices are horrendous. Roll on down to Gorham and get you a Jotul wood stove and ditch the coal until it become reasonable again, if that ever happens. Or try and find a lightly used wood stove for cheaper than new. If your in town I’d see about hopping on natural gas if it’s available. If your out in the woods(my favorite part of maine) propane may even be more economical depending on price up there.
