It depends on location. For me, there is only one dealer in my area so that is who I have to use. I can probably get a delivery from out of state but it would have to be a rather large load for them to make the trip. Post your location, maybe the members can help you out.

Really just wondering where people get good deals. If saving is good enough it would be worth driving a hr or so away to save hundreds on 5 tons.

the window is closing on lower priced coal breakers. there are only a few that i know of that are under 300 a ton right now and who knows if they already raised the prices. was planning on renting a dump trailer and borrowing a one ton truck but those plans fell thru. paid 287 a ton for my coal a few weeks ago and was told the next delivery was going to be close to 400 a ton if not more.

Well I just paid 425 for one ton. If I could get 5 more ton for maybe 350-375 that would be 250-375 saving.

Based on my location, I get my coal from the same place he does :-) Last time I got a delivery I was talking to the owner / delivery person and he told me that coal prices are tied to diesel prices because the mines run their machinery on it. I bought three tons because I figured it was going to go up and our money is worth less and less. All that to say my strategy this year was just to buy as much as I can store because I don't think it's going anywhere but up for a while.

We were camping a little north of Clearfield PA this weekend, so I looked on the computer for coal dealers. I wanted to get some soft coal. I had 4 bags with me, and got 165lbs of nut. They said it’s from Kentucky. $15.26 for 165lbs.
