yes the bulk prices are high but the prices are crashing if it keeps trending down it will be back to 150/t by jan if not sooner
which should put the retail reseller price back around 250-300
Are you saying Anthracite prices are crashing or are you thinking of Bituminous coal prices which are down considerably lately. I'm seeing charts that suggest that Anthracite coal is still on the rise.
PS: I've known my coal provider, a small mom and pop operation, and they've always been most honest with me. Here in Michigan transportation is a significant consideration in my final cost. I'm confident that Jim is taking his absolute cost and marking it up the same as he always has. Last year I paid $300 a ton.. this year $385 as of a few weeks ago.. bagged and delivered with $30 added for gas. Don't know which way it's going in the future but this winter it's better than the $1.81 I paid for propane.

I need to stay warm so I'm moving to Wilber by the sea in fl

On that note, I'm only heating until we head south for the winter.... about a week before Christmas.

I take it you are meaning cords of wood.. and not wood pellets when you say that.. cause wood pellets still can't compare with anthracite even at these crazy prices on $$ per BTU
Yes, I've got lot's of trees on my property to cut & being retired, have the time to cut & split it.

Got family in florida that just bought a house in Pa. right after going thru one of the many hurricanes there. Then while waiting for closing here went back to florida and just went through another hurricane. I guess theres worse things than cold weather. I kinda like both. The warmth of a coal or wood stove and snow in winter, and a warm breeze off the ocean in february in the keys. But i cant take those florida summers ,its bad enough in PA in summer.

75-100 dollars a markup picked up isn't anything
delivered cost is a entire different fish BUT

when you start seeing 200 300 dollars of markup for pickup per ton

and the mine is less than 250 miles away and you are ordering by the loaded SEMI

yea go jump down a mineshaft

we got 2.5T at a whooping 1200 dollars
now that 2.5T was closer to 3

but that still 300 dollars more than last year and we will burn 6 ton or so a season

$390 ton bulk rice delivery Northern Lancaster County from Garmans Coal in Manheim (they have upcharge if under 2 ton)
was $260 this time last year and $285 over the summer 6mo ago in June '22

Ouchtastic!

So $1560 total for 4ton, hope lasts until spring

$12 per 50lb bagged at a local Ag place (pick up) down the street = $480ton

If coal goes any higher, I'm gonna chop up tires and feed them into my EFM520. I just have to get them small enough to keep the auger happy.
