Yea after paying $280 last year in NC Pa, I ran my NG boiler to get an idea of how close they compare. I was burning a ton a month in my Harman mk2, 3600sqft kept hat 70-72. My Veissman boiler on NG was $220 a month.

I not even thinking of coal until the next administration.
Natural gas has quadrupled on the market.. I have no idea how that's gonna play out for residential heating.

Have to compare the heating degree days
to see if the load was similar each month.

It's even easier than that, just use the fuel comparison calculator. But even so, what will happen to the price of natural gas this winter for home heating when it's increased by a factor of 4 on the market?

Just did a little math with the FUEL CALCULATOR on this website.. Thank You Richard...

Here's the data as good as I could get...Cost per 100M btu's...

Coal @ $400/t --------- --- $2000

Fuel Oil @$5.00/g --------- --- 4807

Nat Gas @$15.00/1k/cuft ----------- 1712

Propane @ $4.00/g ----------- 5152

Wood Pellets @$300/t ----------- 2425

Kerosene @$6.50/g----------- --- 4815

I put electric in 4 categories to better reflect the pricing difference.....

29308 KWHr/100,000,000 btu @ 3412btu/KWHr...

Electric RES @$0.14 ------------ $4103

Electric GS HP @ 3.5X COP --- 1173 @ $0.14 KWHr

Electric AS HP @2.5x COP ----1641 @ $0.14 KWHr

Electric Storage @ off peak @ $0.05 KWHr -- $1465

I had a little problem with Nat Gas and Propane since their price

is more variable. I left the efficiency # the same except electric.

Also left out taxes and fees.

have not heard back from the coal man, he quoted me 290 a ton last week, but blaschak went to 300 a ton picked up this week.
From past posts, I think you get coal from the same people that I do. Bethel/Myerstown? Anyhow, I ordered bulk 2 weeks ago and was told the same price. Also was told big increase on Mon., June 13. I was supposed to have delivery by end of last week to beat that. Didn't hear anything by the end of last week so I called him last Fri. afternoon. Had a real short conversation. "Next week" is all I got. I was prepared for the past price but not what it's probably gonna be. Still waiting.

I'm believe they don't normally do much or any coal delivery this time of year. Pretty sure they do lawn care and there's the big wood business as well. I'm just worried and a little steamed if I didn't beat the big price increase.

Nice summation BB but now the ratio is 6 to 1 for me. I buy coal in bulk and use HO very sparingly. $200 oil next year .. so for all the marbles estimate how long this chit will continue for.

I'm going to be upset too if we didnt beat the big price increases. I could have hauled 1000 pounds a day in my little truck for the past week and a half.

Yep, I thought of doing the same until I saw that the price supposedly hadn't gone way crazy yet. Hope there's not an availability problem.

I got my Blaschak delivery tonight. 4 tons and I wish I could have swung more. Just barely enough for a normal winter. According to the coal guy's helper, it's going up $50 a ton at the breaker next week. He didn't know if any of it was the Mammoth vein middle field coal they are getting into at Mt. Carmel area.

If you go on facebook, (yeah, I know) Blaschak Anthracite has a page with a lot of interesting posts. It showed their new impact crusher they just installed on maintenance shutdown. Also, some great pics from May 10 showing the Mammoth vein they started getting into at the Mt. Carmel dig. Evidently there is a long standing rumor that the old timer shaft miners were told to stop when they got to it.

Old Centralia veins just to the East?

Got my Blaschak delivery today. Only 3.25 tons but at $287 a ton vs $400+. Ordered 4 tons but they are backed up and this load someone else was to get but they were not home. the 4 tons were going to be at a higher price. Blaschak is up to $350 a ton picked up next week. Got a raincheck for 100 bags from tractor supply since that's less than 350 a ton.

That takes care of 22-23 but what about 23-24?

I think i'm going to haul pickup loads of coal too.
