Nut Coal Show and Tell

I've been working in Delaware County NY this week and have come across small hardware stores that sell Lehigh and Blaschak nut size Anthracite coal. I got a few bags of each to compare side by side. I have some TSC nut coal home. I buy most of my coal from Cornwall coal, but it is Stove coal size and therefore not part of the picture. Looks like the TSC coal is larger. Lehigh and Blaschak are the same size.

U, what's your point?? My BLASCHAK is the same as your pix. Some stove size mixed in but real iffy size wise--it burns excellent.

No point. Just took pics side by side. I felt that “Let’s go Brandon” president of ours will get rid of all coal mining sooner than later. The pics may soon become nostalgic ....

I hope not Ultra, and Im doubtful that will happen with anthracite, or some of the bit in the west. ND has the cleanest air so they power about everything with lignite mined in their state.
Thats twice Ive seen shiny TSC now so they must be washing it a little now. My Blaschak has always been a little small but its the same every time and always burns well. Real consistent. Ive never had any Lehigh to burn. TSC is inconsistent for me.

Actual Coal Size is also very dependent on the screening method.
An Incline Screening System will supply slightly different (larger) size results from a Horizontal screening system which screens material more effectively and slowly by allowing coal fines and undersize coal to fall away more quickly.
An Incline screening system operates using a clockwise throwing method where the material is dropped on the top section of the screen deck and the screen operates in an elliptical screening motion throwing the material back up hill upon the screen deck to screen it and eventually fall through the screen or pass all the way down to the bottom of the screen deck and then falls off to a re-crushing system like a hammer mill crusher used to handle the oversize material
A horizontal screening system uses a completely flat screen path where the material is fed slowly at the top of the screen deck and the horizontal screen operates on a reciprocating motion pulling the screen back and pushing it forward bringing more material on the screen as the material on the screen is pushed along by the material entering the top of the screen deck.
The horizontal screen will have a few or many screening size sections on it depending on how much scalping of the material is desired for the market served.
Incline screens operate at a much faster speed than horizontal screens and they also do not screen out fines very well on the first pass which is something a Tuyere (Burn Pot), Carpet Flow or Vertiflow stoker hates.
If a picking belt is not used more garbage/timber shards from railroad ties etc. will be found in the coal.
