I have been buying bagged Blaschak rice at a large Ace Hardware in Lackawanna county in PA. Two weeks ago I stopped and picked up 6 bags @ $6.50 a bag the normal price. Yesterday I went back for another 8 bags and was told the new price was $7.99 a bag. I called around to other Ace Hardware stores and their prices have remained the same. Has anyone else noticed a price increase in Blaschak bagged since the temps in the northeast have been so cold. I have a feeling this is just a store being run by a owner who is greedy. I realize that prices for everything are going up but I remember one of the employees telling me they order the Blaschak in August and get about 34 pallets for the heating season.

Retailers in western PA are selling at same price as last year, thankful for mine operators/retailers that don't feel a need to price gouge just because everyone else is.

The price of bagged coal at the wholesale level has gone up since mid summer. If your local retailer has not changed their price since last season they likely bought early in the summer, or they are absorbing the increase (for now).
Cost of mining is up due to fuel costs, cost is trucking is up due to fuel cost and lack of trucks/drivers. Cost of stretch wrap and bags are up due to TX freeze up last winter and petroleum pricing.

Bagged Blaschak at Luzerne Lumber (Ace Hardware) is also $7.99 for a 40lb bag.
I picked up 5 Bags of Reading Coal at Agel Coal in Scranton for a customer yesterday for $35.

Seems with all the chaos going on now & fuel prices escalating everything including coal is increasing in cost. This past August, by buddy Joe paid $ 365 a skid { 60 bags} Blaschak. In October I paid $ 390 a skid. Now, trying to stay ahead of the curve, just purchased 4 skids for next season $ 400 a skid. So just passing this along to those might be able to stock up now; just might be a good idea.

Just bought 4 ton bagged rice coal from TSC, their ton only have 50 bags on skid, paid $320.00 per ton just last week, trying to get stocked up for this coming winter. Also just in case you cant find coal any where because of this screwed up economy

I got a second half ton of Blaschak bagged nut yesterday at a hardware store. I hadn't bought any bagged for some years. $6.89 a bag, which I believe is what they were charging last year. No more discount for half tons. They only have about 10 bags left. I believe they move a good bit of bagged coal. I underordered bulk last year and also was underdelivered.
I got a heating oil fill up 3 or 4 weeks ago and paid $3.40 a gal. Highest in many years. It's now about $5.00 a gal.

I just bought 7 ton of TSC Rice the other day. Lucky one store 50 miles away had it. I got 1 ton of it for $100 due to some bags cut open. Very good deal on that pallet. $6.99 a bag so it worked out and I too have my coal for next year no matter what Biden does or doesn't do.

It's been a cold winter in these parts. Just picked up my 7th ton of bagged Redding on Monday. I started burning mid November. The price has been $275 to $290 for the past 5 years. The trucking company I buy it from said that their supplier told them that it'll be going up $100 a ton very soon. Crazy. With heating oil at $4.70 per gallon right now.........it'll still be cheaper to burn coal at $490 per ton. With heating oil I normally average 1,100 gallons from September to May. Hopefully these prices come down by next fall.
