I lucked out my friend that brokers the TT purchases was able to get last years price for about a 60 day window. Luckily he also had a connection on a local trucker that was running empty from Pennsylvania. He also said he was going to get a second load before the deal is up.

The quote below is current info for 2021-2022 heating season.
The above was posted in last years poll, but is current for 2021-2022 hearing season.Hoytman wrote: ↑Mon. Sep. 13, 2021 1:16 pm$312 a ton for one brand of nut or pea at a place 1.5 hrs from me at Hitzer stove shop.
$307 a ton for another brand of nut or pea from the same shop.
Local TSC 8 miles away $349.50 a ton for nut/rice. Hoping to catch the sale for $5 bag.
I burned just a few bags shy of a ton last season plus 150 gallons of fuel oil. I have a ton of nut left. Likely enough for the worst part of the winter when I start burning my coal...Dec-Mar. Instead of fuel oil this year I'll be getting into my stash of 3year seasoned wood for shoulder season burns.
I may just grab half a ton and call it good for this winter and save my money for buying more bulk come next May. That way I have a little extra coal left if I need it. I also have 2 cords of wood and full fuel oil tank as a last resort...electric and kerosene heaters if I should need those. I shall remain warm one way or another.

I expect I will forever be on the most expensive choice with the high cost of freight now, (1000 miles from the mines) unless theres a TSC sale I catch. But Im sure propane will be higher too. It sure is this year.

FINALLY!!!
My coal was a bit more expensive this year, $207 for Rice and $212 for Pea delivered. This is the first time I've seen 2 different prices from my dealer. It's also the first time I've seen Pea more expensive than Rice.

That's strange that the pea is more..... At most Pea made up 20% of the business I had and the breaker I was delivering from always had a surplus. If it got to the point there was too much they had a crusher set up before the sizing plant to make rice. They wouldn't do that often as it's a lot of expense. My only thought is they have a contract for the pea.

How much do you use per year? Or have you been watching the whole green energy thing?
