I live in Maine and there are places to get coal in this state but I frequently hear members of my Facebook group mentioning having entire 18 wheeler truck loads delivered from Penn. because it's the best. First, how much is a full load? 23 tons? Second who has the best, hottest, cleanest nut coal in Penn.? Thanks for any help.

22-23 tons is pretty typical. Are you looking to get bagged coal or bulk? Trucking on bagged coal is often less $.

Blaschak has great coal as Fred mentioned, so does Lehigh Anthracite.

Blaschak coal is good stuff!
Have burned many brands of coal. Used to live within a few minutes of several breakers.
Since i moved away from Schuylkill county i have Blaschak coal delivered to my home. this is the fourth year with zero problems.

Neil, Please let me know if you would like me to recommend any Blaschak dealers in your area. As far as direct shipments go, unless you are in an area that does not currently have a Blaschak dealer we do not direct ship. Kind of like biting the hand that feeds you.

Second on the Lehigh...
Full TT load depends on the trailer...
Seen them between 23 and 26 ton...
Where in Maine...
We use a driver out of CT...
Lehigh may have a few also...
Just need the room to drive in a TT to your drop zone...
Lehigh may not be the prom queen but she has a nice pretty white ash and burns real nice...

Lehigh is my number one. But I'm sure there are others that are a very close second.

Blaschak and Harmony (no longer available) worked best for me. Lehigh was OK. Reading was high on ash and low on BTU's. Atlantic/Stockton gave me fits with out-fires.

Case in point, the mammoth vein Jeddo coal I'm using currently is terrific stuff.

I always wanted to try Jeddo, but I never found a supplier near me who offered it.

The ash content is average, where Lehigh might have less. It has a slightly higher percentage of hydrocarbons than the Lehigh which makes a pretty fire. Finding fault with it is akin to splitting hairs. It's very good coal.

We have been using Blaschack. Last fall we had 5 ton delivered of Rice. Clean and burns up nicely.
Today, I just cleaned my EFM and not much fly ash. Maybe a 1/4 tub of fly ash dust. But sometime a bird flew down the chimney and ended up in the back of the boiler in the area below the stack.
It was petrified and looked like a dove.
