I bought 170 bags (plastic) of "Miner's Choice" for $5 each last Friday. I hope the quality is good.
I opened one tonight and it looks ok, nice sized pieces and more uniform than last year. I put some in the Locke 120, now we'll see how it burns.

At my tsc the bags labeled miners choice was only rice coal. You're not running that in the 120?jubileejerry wrote: ↑Sun. Nov. 28, 2021 10:31 pmI bought 170 bags (plastic) of "Miner's Choice" for $5 each last Friday. I hope the quality is good.

No, it's nut. The label is blue this year, and they didn't put hand-holes in the plastic bags.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be on the lookout to make sure I'm buying Nut Coal. I picked up two pallets of TSC Nut Coal last week and all the labels were still green, might have been last years stock.jubileejerry wrote: ↑Tue. Nov. 30, 2021 7:48 pmNo, it's nut. It's been $10 a bag for Reading or Kimmel Nut here in Ma. But $6.99 in NH right over the border. They can keep it. I'm fortunate to have a local guy who sells Sherman Coal $8 a bag for 50lbs delivered. Wish I had a way to handle bulk right now.Gunny5821 wrote: ↑Thu. Jan. 07, 2021 9:32 amJust received notification from TS that their nut and rice is on sale 2 for $12.00. It didn't say how long the sale would last, but more than likely through Sunday. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/premium-nut-coal

I just checked my local TSC. $9.99 a bag. Can’t afford that. Ridiculous. That certainly makes the Amish guys $370 a ton more appealing.

Holy &^#$. What state are you in, fig?
Just for kicks, I punched in a zip code for Bangor, ME. on TSC's website and saw that it's $6.99 a bag. Same as PA.
I did check with a local hardware store that sells bagged Blaschak, last Summer and they wanted the same price. No more 1/2 ton discounts. It's been a few years, but I used to pay $6.00 a bag there and sometimes as low as $4.50 in the Summer.

Yeh that’s the thing. I looked online for Illinois and it said $6.99 so I called to see how much they had because sometimes they only have a small amount. I asked the price because I’ve actually found a few times they have local sales that aren’t advertised online and the guy said $9.99 a bag.

Push hard on the that's not what it says online bit. My wife complained about how horse bedding was on sale at every store around us. They price matched, but it took some pushing.fig wrote: ↑Sat. You can buy it online and then pick it up in store. Thats how Ive done it all but the 1st time. They take credit card and paypal, probably debit cards. The store has no say in the price if done that way. Then you just go there, park near the outdoor area and call the store for pickup. They put it on the truck but count it. 5 bags per layer on a pallet it should be. Slick and fast.
