Anyone know of any anthracite being shipped by barge to Cinci via the Ohio?

Just wondering.

I drive across the Brent Spence bridge (I75 & I71) quite often and there's a huge yard just West of the bridge on the Ohio side that looks like it has piles of salt, coal, pig iron and other stuff. There's usually a barge or two tied off there as well. Don't know the name of the place or if it's retail but it might be worth checking out.

Yep...
That's exactly what prompted me to ask this question on the forum hoping one of the coal companies here would know more about it. I'm thinking that's mostly, if not all, bituminous coal, but I hope I am wrong. I could haul my own anthracite off the river if they have it.

Nope. Lol! Uncle has a Pete and a coal bucket and I have the license to drive it. That truck sits only 30 minutes from the river which would explain the smoke coming out my ears. Lol!!! I’d agree it’s likely bituminous.

Thanks. I will call them. I had googled them last year but had forgotten about it until last Thursday while heading to South Carolina via I-75 and I-40 to Asheville and south on 25 to Marietta, DC.

Not sure if they’d sell to the public or not. I’d say most of what is delivered to Middletown is used at AK steel. Won’t hurt to call though.

After contacting Cinci Bulk Terminals and looking at this places website and seeing that you have to first contact them by email, then I would say they scream their emails and are far too busy to fool with one small customer on a minuscule sale. Also...

If you’ve ever been to Middletown around that faculty you would understand what I am saying. The entire facility is surrounded by chain link fence, cameras and guard shacks. For folks who live near by and work there it’s like checking in and out of prison. Lol!!! They likely have plenty of anthracite, but I’d say it’s vast quantities of bulk sales they are looking for...if they even sell any. Most is sold to the nearby mills.

I would also think one of the coal so I sits here would know what they having going to either of these facilities, if any, and so far they have not replied.

I do appreciate your info though.

I know you've been busy with other issues but did you ever contact the place in Middletown?
